Following successful passage of the 2012 Regional Plan Update, an updated Code of Ordinances came into effect February 11, 2013
Regional Plan Litigation
The updated policies and ordinances are currently in effect while the litigation makes its way through the legal process and will remain in effect unless otherwise directed by the courts.
Some Coverage Ordinances On Hold Until Spring
Property owners that were planning to use the new ordinances relating to land coverage this year need to wait for parallel approval of those amendments in other Lake Tahoe regulatory plans. The coverage rule amendments are waiting to be ratified by California and Nevada in the Lake Tahoe Water Quality Plan (208 Plan) by the states and federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) before they are able to do so. Those parallel amendments regarding land coverage are expected to be complete this Spring, ahead of the building season start May 1. By that time, TRPA also expects to know if an injunction of the plan, or of particular aspects of the plan, has been ordered by the court.
